Methyl Mercury Testing

McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI), located in the San Francisco Bay Area, offers reliable Methyl Mercury (MeHg) testing in water using EPA Method 1630 through our full-service environmental testing laboratory. We support environmental consultants, municipalities, industrial clients, and researchers throughout San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Walnut Creek, San Jose, Sacramento, and Northern California.

Methyl Mercury Testing in Water

Methyl Mercury (MeHg) is an important analyte for environmental projects involving water quality, aquatic systems, mercury speciation, and bioaccumulation concerns. McCampbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI) offers Methyl Mercury testing in water using EPA Method 1630 to support clients requiring reliable, defensible analytical data for specialized monitoring and assessment projects.

This capability has been part of MAI’s service offerings for several years and remains available for projects where dissolved or total mercury data alone may not provide sufficient insight. If your project scope involves environmental risk evaluation, aquatic habitat studies, watershed investigations, or mercury-related monitoring, Methyl Mercury analysis may be worth considering.

Method and Service Details

MAI performs Methyl Mercury analysis in water only using EPA Method 1630. At this time, we do not offer Methyl Mercury testing for solids. Samples are collected in 500 mL amber glass containers preserved with Hydrochloric Acid (HCl). Our current standard turnaround time is 10 business days, and rush turnaround is not presently available for this method.

Projects that may benefit from Methyl Mercury testing include:

  • Surface water investigations
  • Watershed and stormwater studies
  • Aquatic habitat and ecological assessments
  • Mercury fate and transport evaluations
  • Bioaccumulation-related monitoring
  • Specialized regulatory or research-driven sampling programs

Why Consider Methyl Mercury Analysis?

  • Concern about aquatic exposure pathways
  • Evaluation of ecological risk
  • Investigation of mercury transformation in water systems
  • Monitoring programs where speciation matters
  • Data needs tied to site-specific environmental conditions

Including Methyl Mercury in the analytical scope can help provide a more complete understanding of mercury behavior in water under certain project conditions. If you are unsure whether Methyl Mercury should be included in your analytical scope, our team can help you determine whether this method is appropriate for your project.

Why Choose McCampbell Analytical?
