Chemist

We are seeking a full time chemist to join our team Monday through Friday. The position available is for an entry level to intermediate level (0-3 years) analyst that can be productive, consistent and flexible with hours.


The analyst is responsible for preparing standards, calibration, analyses of samples, and data review.

Any analyses performed are to be done in accordance with prescribed EPA methods based on the department. Samples submitted are tested within appropriate hold times for all types of environmental matrices (drinking water, wastewater, soils and other matrices).

Qualifications:

  • A four-year college degree in chemistry or other closely related science discipline.
  • Candidate will have working laboratory experience and basic lab skill set.
  • Clear and concise communication with management staff.
  • Multi-tasking is essential in the lab environment along with attention to detail in completing all tasks.

Inorganic Chemistry Analyst

We are seeking a full-time chemist to join our fast paced team Wet Chemistry Department Monday through Friday. The position available is for an entry level to intermediate (0-3 yr experience) analyst that can be productive, consistent and flexible with hours.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The analyst is responsible for preparing standards, calibration, prep & analyses of samples, and data review.
  • All analyses are performed with prescribed regulatory methods (EPA/Standard Methods) for the UV Spectrophotometer analyses and the flow segmented analyzer to report samples to clients within specified due dates. The analyst is responsible for making sure that the workflow from sample preparation to sending results into data entry for report generation is done in a timely manner.
  • The analyst is responsible for testing samples submitted by a client within appropriate hold times for all types of environmental matrices (drinking water, wastewater, soils, and other matrices).

Data Entry Specialist

We are seeking a full time, seeking a full-time, Data Entry Specialist to add to our team. The primary role of our Data Entry Department is to gather analytical data from our Analytical Staff and to funnel this data into our analytical reports using our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database.

Material Scientist

Laboratory job Opening in our Solids analytical department for Material Scientist, Geochemist, Chemist or other scientist with minimum BSC. Applicants from entry level to very experienced can be accommodated. Skilled applicants should have educational and/or professional experience using instrumental techniques such as XRD, XRF, FTIR, SEM, TEM, microscopy, radiochemistry.

Duties depend on applicant’s background and experience, but will include at a minimum preparation and analysis of samples for unknown material ID (general forensics), regulatory purposes (EPA/NIOSH/CARB methods) or R&D/manufacturing characterization. Additional duties may include instrument maintenance and setup; development of new methods; client consultation; preparation of reports and marketing materials

The primary attributes that we are looking for are versatility, mechanical & instrumental aptitude, native intelligence, drive, and ability and passion to learn. Must thrive working independently but also be able to accept direction and work as a team member. Applicants having a range of skill sets will be considered, from entry level school lab experience to seasoned professionals.

GC Chemist

We are seeking a full time, skilled chemist to join our team for a day shift Monday through Friday; 9am – 6pm. The position available is for an intermediate level GC Chemist (1-3 years) to work in the Chlorinated Pesticides Department.

This position reports to the Laboratory Manager.

Project Manager

MAI is currently seeking a full time Project Manager, for a 10am - 7pm shift, Monday through Friday, to add to our team.

This candidate reports directly to the Lab Manager and will be trained by current PM staff in all job functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following and possess the following qualifications.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reviews data/report as well as invoices before issuing to clients
  • Communicates with clients regarding report status, expected delays, data quality, etc.
  • Provides technical support for data, methods, reporting limits, and sampling containers to confirm acceptability and compliance with method specifications
  • Reviews project documentation (permits, SOW, QAPP, and purchase orders) against laboratory capabilities
  • Acts as liaison between clients and analysts, technical staff, and quality assurance staff
  • Schedules couriers, as needed
  • Quote generation, as needed
  • Assists with process improvement methods in the laboratory
  • Confirms correct report and EDD formats are used
  • Compiles case narratives

Qualifications:

  • A four-year college degree in Chemistry, Biology, or other closely related science discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience ranging from laboratory bench work, method R&D, &/or project management
  • Clear and concise communication with clients and laboratory staff members—both verbal and written.
  • Multi-tasking is essential in the lab environment along with attention to detail in completing all tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer skills – using routine software applications such as Outlook, Office, Excel, Word, and Access.

Sample Preparation Technician

We are seeking a full time Sample Preparation Lab Technician to join our Extractions team Monday through Friday from 10am-7pm. Weekend shift(s) in lieu weekday shifts may be available to the right candidate.

Primary duties include: the preparation and extraction of environmental samples, primarily soil and water samples, following laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The technician will learn to properly prepare reagents & standards, dispose of samples, restock inventory and receive incoming materials & supplies. All training is provided.

Sample Receptionist

MAI is currently seeking a full-time, Sample Receptionist to add to our team. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday; 12-9pm. The ideal candidate will possess a high school or equivalent degree, good basic computer skills, intelligence & the ability to work effectively in a high-paced environment and as part of a close-knit team.

A scientific background is desired but not mandatory.

The position requires above-average communication skills, an exceptional ability to multi-task and excellent attention to detail. The Wet Chemistry department follows EPA and Standard Methods procedures to generate data. Methodologies include pH, turbidity, color, odor, ORP, conductivity, MBAS, BOD, gravimetric analysis and many others. The analyst would be responsible for ensure analyses are completed accurately and within appropriate hold times for all types of environmental samples (drinking water, wastewater, soils and other matrices).
